facebook banned...........!!

This time i am not writing about any new gadget but rather than an I am raising a voice against actions practiced in almost all offices which clearly violates our lot of  social rights...

Okay cool down guys i am not discussing serious politics here,but you got to listen to this little story.I am normal tech savy guy of present  3G world who likes to keep posting my little details for my friends and also checking their activities in face book and twitter.Add to this i also like to follow various other  techie and some of my fav actors,authors  tweets and their updates.So despite  having very hectic schedule i do take little time in my office hours for such activities....
Now from quite some time,my office has been following strict IT policy and blocking various websites.Now i sit next to IT manager.Checking facebook and tweets is just like taking a sip of coffee for me.But credit to eagle eyes of my IT manager who must have noticed this,i found to my surprise a couple of days back both sites were banned....................

This obviously was not meant to stop me from my freedom...freedom of expression that i feel while doing same in my social website..I restored to using proxy servers to check my stuff.I even tell how to bypass the firewall some of my colleagues thereby becomes a favorites of not so technical people in my office,

Now another question came up in my mind,why blocking of websites is a common practice in corporates these days.The following can be the reasons that i can figure out

a.)It results in lapse of concentration.
b)We waste our time resulting in decreasing in productivity.
c)Leakage of official information

The third one is an absurd excuse and for the first two are we not the grown ups to not to do things that affect our performances.May be i am more disturbed in not allowing to do what i feel like to do.It's a sort of practice corporates like to follow ,may be they want us into Machines away from social hullabulla.

Here is another feature of GOOGLE which most of us are not aware of that is to find the Sunrise and Sunset Timings of almost any city of the world.

Google can be used to find out sunrise and sunset time quickly using the search code as "sunrise & sunset " respectively for almost every city in the world.

As for example, search for sunrise Delhi will show the approximate time when sun will appear next in Delhi, the Indian Capital and sunset paris will give the approximate time when sun disappears next. The timings show is local time zone.

Apart from Google, one can also find informations about the sunrise and sunset times of various cities using Wolfram Alpha.

Apple has always been leader in the world of gadgets and innovation in technology.They have set up standards which world has followed.When Steve jobs introduced Apple Ipad ,he would definitely had some vision as how this would start the race wherein others would follow suit.


My focus in this blog is not Ipad,probably lot has been written about it.I am more interested in lot of other PC tablets which have hit the market or which are supposed to hit.What is interesting to see is that most of these tablets are android based.
Indian based Notion Adam was one that seemed at one point of time giving serious competition to Apple Ipad.They almost created a stir when Adam was displayed in Mobile World Congress 2010.With Pixel Qi  transflective display(that make this device visible even in broad sunlight,Ipad users can't boast of this),Nvidia T20 Tegra Chipset,180 degree Swivel Camera,1080p Full HD video playback with Android based platform,there were huge expectations from Adam.However Adam never saw it's launch,whether it will be launched is still unknown.


There are others which have come up with android .The Dell Streak is a hybrid device that lives in the space between a smartphone and other larger tablets or netbooks that you might be using right now.It comes with 5" screen and with 1Ghz Snapdragon Processor,5MP Autofocus Camera,Front camera for video conferencing,3G,Wifi(802.11 b/g;n is missing),Bluetooth 2.1 and other features,this is a good device for android lovers and those looking for a small 5" tablet or smartphone.


Archos is another company among others to come up with Tablet with android as platform.Though it doesn't seem anyone giving serious competition to Apple Ipad at present,i would really love to see Fryo comming in these tablets soon.That may change the scenario.








There are tablets with Windows CE embedded as platform.HP Slate which has a 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive multitouch display, a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor with UMA graphics and an accelerator for 1080p video playback is supposed to come up with an windows 7 .


Nokia hasn't left behind ,it's planning to come up with 7' and 9' screen with MeeGo as platform.The race has just started with Apple Ipad clearly leading the way as of now by miles.

Windows Mobile 6.5: a first look

Microsoft has officially unveiled the latest version of its mobile operating system at Mobile World Congress 2009. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer previewed Windows Mobile 6.5 during his keynote address, and as expected, the updated OS brings a handful of enhancements, including an application store, a backup and restore service, and an improved mobile web browser. Here's a full rundown of the new features:

My Phone service

My Phone is a free service that allows you to back up your phone's information to a password-protected web service. It offers automatic synching and backup so you can store your contacts, appointments, text messages and other information to the service and then easily restore the Show allinformation to your device if you happen to lose it or upgrade to a new smartphone.

In addition, My Phone lets you automatically upload photos and videos straight from your phone to the service. Currently, My Phone is only available as an invitation-only beta.

Windows Marketplace for Mobile

Windows Marketplace for Mobile will operate as the central hub for searching, browsing and purchasing mobile applications for your smartphone. It comes preloaded on all Windows Mobile 6.5 devices, where you'll be able to download applications over the air or from your PC simply by entering your Windows Live ID. Developers who have already created programs for Windows Mobile will be able to offer their products through the marketplace after a security and compatibility check from Microsoft.


Internet Explorer Mobile will support Flash and JavaScript — but not (yet) SilverLight.

With Windows Mobile 6.5, you'll get more features from Internet Explorer Mobile. Built on the Internet Explorer 6 engine, the mobile browser will support Flash and JavaScript and includes new tools for better page navigation, such as zoom in/out sliding scale and a breadcrumb feature that shows you where you are on a web page. In addition, Microsoft says that the browser allows for more transactions (checking flights, buying movie tickets, for example) than any other mobile browser.

Windows Mobile 6.5 has a new touch-screen-friendly 'honeycomb' interface for on-screen icons.

New user interface
The most noticeable difference you'll see in Windows Mobile 6.5 is the user interface. It is designed to be 'finger friendly' and 'people centric', bringing more important information up front and allowing for a better navigation experience.

The Start menu now features a honeycomb format so you can more easily tap on icons without hitting the wrong button. You can also move and rearrange the icons to your liking. From the lock screen, you'll be able to see any missed calls, voicemails, new messages and upcoming appointments, providing your most important information at a glance. The Home screen also uses Zune's interface. Our screenshot gallery better illustrates these features and how they work, so be sure to check it out.

Although these capabilities seem aimed at touch screens, Microsoft says it's still committed to non-touch devices and offering its customers a choice, so Windows Mobile 6.5 will also come in a Standard Edition.

Availability and partners

Now, here's some bad news. Microsoft doesn't plan to release Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrades or devices until the second half of 2009. There were a couple of handset announcements made in conjunction with the Windows Mobile 6.5 news (LG has committed to Windows Mobile as the primary operating system for its smartphones and will release a 6.5 device later this year, and HTC will offer Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrades for its new HTC Touch Pro2 and HTC Touch Diamond2 devices), you can bet that Microsoft's competition won't be sitting still during that time and will continue to develop their own operating systems.

The new enhancements promise to improve the usability of Windows Mobile, but they seem more like baby steps than giant leaps forward, so it will be interesting to see where Windows Mobile 6.5 will be in the game by the time it finally comes out.
